Avalanche in Sarbal, Sonamarg, no casualty reported | KNO

Srinagar, Mar 05 (KNO): An avalanche occurred in Sarbal area of Sonamarg, located in Ganderbal district, Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. The powerful avalanche, which sent snow and debris cascading down the slopes, drew the attention of local residents and authorities. As per the reports received by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), no casualties have been reported in the avalanche. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, and no major damage has been observed in the surrounding areas. The region has experienced heavy snowfall in recent days, contributing to the avalanche risk. Notable, the Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (JK-DMA) has issued an alert for a high-level avalanche risk in the region. An avalanche with a high danger level is likely to occur above 2500 meters in areas including Doda, Ganderbal, Kishtwar, and Ramban in the next 24 hours. Local authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. In case of an emergency, individuals are advised to dial 112 for immediate assistance from the JK-UT Disaster Management Authority—(KNO)
